As we’re baby-proofing the house, a soft, comfy ottoman in place of our (very sharp) burl coffee table seemed necessary. I found a secondhand green gingham ottoman back in January and after bringing it up to our living room this weekend, I realized it was verrrry large and the scale feels off.
But I may just need to re-arrange some things and style it – while also getting used to it. Sometimes new items feel jarring at first but really just take some getting used to. At least the new chest is shining on that back wall!
(ignore the scallop side table and mess lol)
I’m going to style it and live with it for a bit before making any decisions, but I have to say, (baby) Angelo loves it! He’s been walking to it, holding himself up on it, and crawling on it. And I don’t have to worry about him getting hurt with a sharp edge.
With that said, today I’m sharing some classic coffee tables and ottomans as they’ve been on my mind lately. Check out this post for side & end tables.

The way you combine colors is very fresh, bringing a pleasant and relaxing feeling to the house!
That’s a relatable furniture struggle! Scale can be so tricky. Maybe try angling the ottoman slightly, or pulling it further away from the couch? Sometimes just a small adjustment makes a big difference. Speaking of comfy and quirky, have you seen those novelty ottomans shaped like an Eggy Car? Might be too out-there for a baby-proofed space, but they’re definitely conversation starters! Hope you find the perfect spot for your green gingham!
