Shelves & wall color in our bathroom is Farrow & Ball French Gray
x I’m sharing the LRV (light reflective value) for each color because it’s important to consider how light or dark a color is when making a decision. For reference, pitch black is 0 and bright white is 100.
x I’m usually drawn to mid-tone paint colors that have an LRV between 35-65 because they’re not too dark and not too bright, but that’s just my personal preference.
x When it comes to color matching, you can color match anywhere but understand that the color will not look 100% the same when you’re not buying it directly from the brand – especially if you’re trying to color match Farrow and Ball.
x Encycolorpedia is my bible when trying to choose a paint color. Searching for a color will tell you everything you need to know – color formula, LRV, close-matching paints from other brands, and more.
x Always swatch on a white piece of paper/poster board before committing. A paint color will look completely different in one room than another and depending on which way the sun is facing.

BENJAMIN MOORE GUILFORD GREEN

A refreshing muted chartreuse with obvious yellow undertones.

FARROW & BALL MIZZLE

FARROW & BALL FRENCH GRAY
LRV: ~45
If you held a gun to my head and told me I had to paint my entire house one color, French Gray would be it.
It’s the color I chose for our main bath and it’s the most perfect mid tone grayish-green I’ve ever seen. It can also appear cool depending on the light, but I think Mizzle has cooler undertones than French Gray.
CLARE PAINT AVOCADO TOAST
LRV: 39
RUNNER UP:
FARROW & BALL BREAKFAST ROOM GREEN
LRV: 30
This color is similar to CP Avocado Toast but is a smidge darker with a slightly cooler feel. Farrow & Ball describes it as a cheerful green and I could not agree more.
BENJAMIN MOORE PALACE GREEN
LRV: 24
CLARE PAINT CURRENT MOOD
LRV: 16
One of Clare Paint’s most popular colors with over 182 five-star reviews, this rich forest green is a show stopper

These are some of my faves also. I will say, I used French Gray in a hallway in our old house and it looked awful!!! Not enough light, north facing and it went flat and almost looked, dare I say it, like a pastel green. Expensive lesson but well learned. Salamander is an all time fave but I would call it a blue just because it’s grouped with blues on the paint cards.???????????? I stumbled across a new fave color…Stardust!! It a BM color-not green but the warmest, earthiest, complex gray…I’m obsessed!!!! Love this post-especially since green is my fave. I intentionally don’t use the color on my walls because my entire house would be green and I prefer to change up my greens by obsession???? right now it’s breakfast room green and any minty green????

Hi Amy, what green would you recommend for a north facing room please? My livingroom only has one north facing window and am looking for suggestions!

Great post! I love green. I painted my (bright, west-facing) bedroom French Gray and it is gorgeous in any light. I also love FB Lichen.

Just lovely, and green is my favorite also. Nantucket Grey is my favorite. A moody grey green like Mizzle. We are moving across country in a few weeks and our entire new house desperately needs paint as the owner had not painted in the 37 years she had lived there. I was obsessed with trying to get the colors right from 1200 miles away. Color matching to my favorite did not work, and cannot if you are using Ben Moor’s Aura Colour Stories paint as it is full spectrum and no black is used. This also means that it changes constantly throughout the day in a way no other commercial paint does. I ended up with their full spectrum Wicker Basket at 75% and will get to see it in 3 weeks when we get there.

Did you sample other colors (besides Mizzle) for your bathroom? French Grey looks to be exactly what I’m going for in my dining room, but I want to test other options. Thank you!

Absolutely beautiful! Not brave enough to use on walls but getting ready to use BM Louisburg Green on front door of a White House. Similar to F&B Lichen. Praying for
It to look as good in sunlight as in my mind!
I did have our main bedroom painted in BM
Hazelwood – a beautiful soft gray/green.

Hi! I have done some walls in my 11 yr old girls bedroom Behr “baby scallop”. The room doesn’t get a lot of light and has a pink chandelier, grey carpeting. Would you recommend a warm green as an accent wall color? She just wants a calm space. Thank you!
