I’m so thrilled to share the reveal of Olivia’s nursery today! Though, this isn’t much of a “reveal,” as I’m just repurposing my office into a nursery (again). My new office will now be in our fourth downstairs bedroom and I’ll share plans for that in the coming weeks.
When I made over my office in 2022, I chose green Sister Parish Dolly wallpaper because I knew it would likely eventually turn into our second baby’s room if we ever had one, and I wanted it to be gender neutral for a boy or girl. When we found out we were having a girl, I really leaned into my all-time-favorite color combo, pink and green, and am thrilled with how it turned out.
Here’s what this room looked like before it became my office:
And then my office:
And now the nursery!
Breaking down some of the new details below:
Drapes
As I started scheming for a girl, I found myself once again gravitating towards Althea/Hollyhock, mostly because it’s a large scale floral that comes in a bunch of colors and works so well with the wallpaper. I’ve desperately tried time and time again to quit this pattern but alas, it pulls me in.
To clarify, I’ve used Althea a few times before (both new and secondhand), but I’ve never used Hollyhock.
Hollyhock is the hand blocked version of Althea and therefore, the price is higher per yard (whereas Althea is printed). Hollyhock is also slightlyyy larger in scale than Althea, for all my fellow pattern nerds. I am extremely grateful for my continued partnership with Lee Jofa & Kravet, as they were able to extend a discount on the fabric for this room, otherwise these drapes would have been completely out of my price range.
I ended up choosing Hollyhock Coral. Martha & Ash made the drapes and they turned out beautifully!
Side note related to Hollyhock – I never got around to having this Hollyhock needlepoint canvas made into a pillow. I ironically started it last February and finished in November. It for sure belongs in this room!
ROCKING CHAIR & OTTOMAN
I found an old Bassett rocking chair on Facebook Marketplace for less than $100 and had it reupholstered by Nouvelle Vie in a ruffled skirt and with a contrast cord (Christine has done all my reupholstery and highly recommend her if you’re in northern NJ).
This chair is SO COMFORTABLE! It really engulfs you and I love that I can rest my head against the back of the chair. I had it recovered in this performance stripe fabric and brown velvet contrast cord fabric which was an eBay find.
Little details that make me happy: the brown contrast cord matches the lamp on the opposite side of the room
Can’t wait to experience my post-partum hormone dump in this pretty corner!!!
I repurposed the ottoman from Angelo’s nursery for this room. Christine was able to repurpose leftover fabric from the curtains to use for the ottoman cushion cover.
ART:
One of my favorite artists – Alexis Walter – truly created the most special commission for this room (and for Angelo’s nursery as well). I sent her the color palette and she created such a gorgeous piece of art that I will cherish forever and ever.
Other details & things I repurposed:
- The Carver’s Guild Song Bird mirror was a Facebook Marketplace find from Angelo’s nursery that once again works perfectly above the dresser
- I purchased the Christopher Spitzmiller lamp from his seconds sale and the pink Fermoie shade also on sale from KRB NYC
- The Frontgate Ettiene dresser was also repurposed from Angelo’s nursery as we weren’t using it in there anymore. I love that it has an outlet and smooth close drawers
- I kept the Annie Selke rug in here because I couldn’t find a quality wool rug that didn’t cost an arm and leg. The sisal isn’t ideal for a nursery but I’ll swap it out eventually
- I also kept the floor lamp from my office here and swapped out the shade with this budget-friendly pleated shade. Here’s a link to both the lamp and the shade
