I want to take a moment to acknowledge anyone struggling with infertility right now or trying to conceive. I recognize that not everyone is a place where they can or want to read about someone else’s pregnancy experience, and I understand if you need to take a step back or unfollow my content.
Angelo and I are excited to share that I’m pregnant!

When the nausea hit around six weeks, I truly did not know how I’d make it to the end of the first trimester while managing my full time job and having a toddler. But I’m now just a few days past 15 weeks and feeling much better than I was in June and July – it went by much quicker than I thought it would. I’m so lucky to have a wonderful support system and a husband who truly shines as a dad and caregiver.
Although I never publicly shared this (and many have asked), I always knew we’d try to have another baby at some point. We’ve always wanted two. But part of me just didn’t want to put that information out into the universe before it actually happened.
I jokingly tell people that I would’ve been fine with a 9 year age gap between babies because being pregnant and giving birth really rocked my world. I’m hoping 0-1 was a harder transition than 1-2 will be. It wasn’t until about 1.5 years after I had Angelo that I started feeling myself again – like my wit and pep started creeping back in.
And just as I was thinking “time to put away these baby bottles that have been taking up so much space on our counter for two years…” I’m pregnant. I swear time moves much quicker after having a child, its not fair.
So while I’m not revealing the gender for another few weeks, I thought I’d share my girl and boy nursery scheme in this post!
I also never openly mentioned this because it was a personal decision that I chose to not share for a few reasons, but……I picked the green Dolly wallpaper in my office because I knew it would likely eventually turn into our second baby’s room if we ever had one, and I wanted it to be gender neutral for a boy or girl.
If it’s a boy, I’m leaning into blue and green. And if it’s a girl, leaning into pink (or lilac) and green.
Someone once snarked that I re-do rooms over and over. I’m not the type of home influencer to finish renovating a home and jump ship to the next one (no hate to those that do, it’s just not us). Tweaking existing rooms is fun, most people do it, and it’s a creative outlet for me. We have four bedrooms in our home, and now that we have a second child on the way, we’re working with what we have. Plus, my office turning into a nursery is a familiar concept.
Since the Dolly wallpaper is staying, I’d like to find a rocking chair and get it recovered (preferably one that reclines this time), get a softer rug, and maybe swap the drapes with 2.5 width drapes/that can close all the way (current drapes are 1.5 width and are stationary). If there’s a way to incorporate new textiles, I will find it.
My office will move to our fourth, un-renovated bedroom downstairs. It basically has a window made for ants and terribly awkward angles, but I have some ideas for how to make it work, like striped wallpaper on the walls + ceiling, and a balloon shade! More to come in a separate blog post.
Anyway, here are the boy and girl nursery schemes using Dolly as the wallpaper:
Using some Old Wive’s Tales gender predictions, what do you think – boy or girl? My pregnancy symptoms are:
- constant nausea from 6-12 weeks but (luckily) no vomiting. I remember the nausea being slightly worse with Angelo. Or maybe I just knew what to expect this time?
- craving salty foods and chicken legs/thighs/nuggets lol. Sweets have been grossing me out
- acne
- baby’s heartbeat was 166 at eight week appt
- no heartburn (yet)
- so emotional. can’t scroll TikTok without crying over the dumbest shit
Leave your guess in the comments or in my pregnancy reveal post on IG!
That’s all for now, I’m excited to share the gender reveal in a few weeks!! 🙂

Congratulations! Personally, I love it that you are more realistic than other bloggers who keep moving all the time; who can do that with these interest rates? Looking forward to hearing about your new office–dealing with odd angles and windows is keeping it real and content I really enjoy.

thanks Alice, totally agree, I can’t imagine constantly moving!

As someone who is also pregnant, I am glad to hear I am not the only one craving chicken nuggets haha. Congratulations!

HAHA! thank you, you too!!!

I’m thrilled about your second baby. I wish you all the best for you and your family. I’m your #1 fan, so redoing the same rooms or sharing your choice of coffee and the unicorns you find is fantastic to me.

Chicken was one of the foods with both pregnancies I absolutely could not stomach. I’m guessing a boy but truly, just want you to have a much more positive birthing and post partum experience this go around!!
And…ummmmm….are you kicking Angelo out of his office again? Where will he work!?
aglassofbovino says
HAH omg, I wish I was grossed out by it, I eat way too much of it. And I also am hoping for a much more positive birthing experience this time!
Angelo is now working in our storage room, which sounds horrible but it’s about half the size of our upstairs bedrooms and he prefers the smaller space!

Congratulations! I’m going to guess, Girl!

Congrats on this addition to your family! Based on your design boards only, I’m guessing boy.

Congratulations! I have two girls—with my first I craved cantaloupe and with my second I craved fried chicken (that craving actually never went away!) so I’m guessing girl, but so happy for your family!

Congratulations! Wonderful news. As someone who struggled a lot to have her babies, I appreciate the note upfront. Thank you for that pause and acknowledgement.
Love this paths you’re taking. I’m in the midst of rejiggering our guest room for our two little ones myself! Going in a whole different direction and so excited, using lots of your FB marketplace tips.
Random question – that frame in the girls’ layout, so pretty! Where might I grab one?

Ahhh so, so happy for you. And glad to hear the nausea is on its way out—the WORST part of pregnancy/childbirth for me, hands down.
Based on your cravings alone, I’m guessing boy! 💚💙

Pregnancy and birth! I think girl!

What exciting news!! My guess is a girl! I look forward to seeing the new nursery, whichever it is. Blue or pink, it will be fabulous, and I can’t wait to see your new office.

Congrats!! And thank you for the kind acknowledgement at the beginning:) I’m guessing girl based on my opposite symptoms with boy (meat aversion, pancake craving??) and I had morning sickness (at night!!) til 19-20 weeks. Congrats again!

Excited for you! If Tina needs a getaway, my house is very quiet and calm. 😉
Decor-wise, I’m all about that Colefax & Fowler Jubilee Rose scheme!
Carly says
Congratulations, Alisa!!
My guess is girl! Mainly because both my girls had heart rates in the 160s, and I truly believe their HR tends to be higher than boys in the beginning.

We have that crib and love it!!! It’s held up well between our two girls; we used a large, light blue buffalo check with Sorolla prints, and antique furniture. I would recommend purchasing the touch up pen when you purchase the crib!
CONGRATULATIONS!
As I’m sitting here typing this, it’s almost 3 in the afternoon (PST), I haven’t showered/brushed my teeth but have been dancing with my 3-year-old to Swan Lake while she’s wearing her purple tutu and my 14-mon-old is upstairs cuddled in for a nap. I LOVE MY LIFE!
I’M SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!!

Blergh. You already have the crib. Facepalm. Can I claim mom brain/first day of school??? 😲
