After sharing a recent pivot on the family room paint color from a lovely soft light blue to split pea soup/baby poop green (#babyshitchic), I thought I’d share a roundup of my favorite olive green rooms that have inspired me over the years. While I’m drawn to most shades of green, I think olive might be my favorite.
My olive paint obsession began with my first office in 2019, which was inspired by this Lake Forest Showhouse room by Wendy Labrum Interiors:
and my office:
I’m forever drawn to the juxtaposition of dark walls with light furnishings.
I completely understand this color isn’t for everyone – which is exactly why I want to use it. I’m usually very quick to choose a blue-green paint color in almost every room I’ve made over, but my gut is leaning towards a dark yellow-green for this space. My overall goal is to make this room cozy, comfortable and chic. I want it to feel warm and earth-y.
The point of this post is not to change the mind of any olive green wall haters, but to simply to call attention to the fact that some of the most beautiful rooms are in fact….olive green

My current top two paint colors are….
Benjamin Moore Timson GreeN
Benjamin Moore Terrapin Green
But also…
The first green sample I swatched was Benjamin Moore Herb Garden. I am known for always going with my first choice, but first needing to swatch 2394 other options to make sure. I really love this color, but might be more blue-green than I want.
It reminds me of the paint color from this room:
I’ll inevitably spiral some more, paint the whole room, and then change my mind.

Love this! I painted my living room an olive green from a light blue after mulling it over for ages and I love it. I coincidentally had many of the same images pinned.
