Although I’m currently off of work for maternity leave, Angelo and I have been talking about where in our house I’m going to work once my maternity leave is over. Since my office turned into the nursery (which was always the plan when we bought our house), I was planning on throwing my desk in any corner of the house to use once I returned to work.
But Angelo offered me his current office, which is our third upstairs bedroom. He’s going to move his office to our downstairs bedroom, which is our mini-gym, and the gym equipment will move to the garage.
Which means…
I have my own office again!
And I am filled with joie de vivre over it.
Since I don’t sleep when the baby sleeps during the day, the baby’s nap times have been filled with dreaming and scheming..and some laundry.
I would design my old office just like this again in a heartbeat, but I’m excited to start from scratch and try something new.
This will be a small project, something that will keep me sane and that I can look forward to when these newborn days are overwhelming.
Something to make me feel like me again.
I’m currently considering two entirely different concepts, but if I’m being honest with myself, my heart skips a beat for one over the other.
I originally had the idea to use removable grasscloth, but my friend Connor brought up a good point about considering using a pattern as wallpaper to break up the rest of the rooms. So my wheels started spinning and I realized it would be a great opportunity to finally use Sister Parish Dolly – which I’ve been dying to install somewhere for a few years now. I even bought a few rolls to install in my closet but never got around to it. It’s a classic pattern that I know I will never tire of and I know would bring me so much joy.
Similar to my old office, I’d like to source some of the items for this room secondhand. It was a fun challenge for me last time, as I obviously enjoy the thrill of the hunt. I already thrifted the desk and the Althea chair and hope to thrift at least a handful of the remaining items.
I’ll share regular updates via IG stories (during nap time, of course). Thanks for following along and I can’t wait to share the final result!

That’s wonderful that you have your very own room again. It will be a nice escape. I vote for Dolly
